Lisa Jean Moore is a SUNY Distinguished Professor of Sociology and Gender Studies at Purchase College. She is the author or co-author of nine books, including The Unknowable Body (Polity, 2026) and Our Transgenic Future (NYU Press, 2022). Her writing draws on her training in medical sociology and epidemiology to move between embodied experience and structural analysis. She lives in Brooklyn.
